Prairie Learning Center’s Equine Program takes our Mission Statement and tries to accomplish it through the use of horses. The horses at our facility serve two purposes. The first purpose is the Equine Assisted Learning. This is where we use the horses as a tool to reach a goal. Every session gives us a chance to teach something useful that they will need in life. Examples of this are; Clear communication, patience, motivation, honesty and loyalty to name a few. The second purpose of the horses is for the riding/horsemanship aspect. This can teach all of the above listed, but gives the resident a completely different view of it, and adds another aspect to it. Horses are a wonderful presence in anyone’s life, and have the ability to do a lot of healing without any effort. Because of that they are a wonderful contributor to our program at Prairie Learning Center.
